As we usher out the year that was 2021, we are pleased to welcome a brand new slate of officers for CLA's standing committees and are equally pleased to announce that Everett Green, a former member of the Business Law News (BLN) editorial board, has been elected the new Chair of the Business Law Section. We look forward to working with Everett and the new standing committee officers to continue to provide our readers with a wide range of articles spanning a multitude of topics of interest to business lawyers.

In this issue, BLN is once again pleased to include an article from Neil J. Wertlieb, our ethics expert, co-chair of the CLA's Ethics Committee, and long-standing contributor and advisor to the BLN. In his article The No Contact Rule, Neil discusses the application of the so-called "No Contact Rule" to business lawyers.

In his article entitled Tax Issues with Lawyer Legal Funding, Robert W. Wood, a frequent contributor to BLN, addresses the United States Tax Court's decision in Novoselsky v. Commissioner and the potential tax ramifications for lawyers who obtain litigation funding loans.

Paul J. Pascuzzi and Nicholas Kohlmeyer's article entitled Court of Appeal Delves into Bankruptcy Law; Did it Get it Right? discusses the recent court of appeal decision in Rubin v. Ross which held that the automatic stay protections afforded all debtors in a bankruptcy proceeding pursuant to 11 U.S.C. § 362 did not prevent a judgment creditor from renewing a judgment against the debtor while the automatic stay was still in place.
