Position2005 Annual Report

Dear Colleague:

For slightly more than six decades Tax Executives Institute has worked to meet the needs and advance the common objectives of in-house tax professionals. I have been active in the organization for many years, and before becoming president in August 2005, I was honored to serve as Senior Vice President to Judith P. Zelisko of TEI's Chicago Chapter, the Institute's 2004-2005 International President. This report summarizes the major accomplishments of Judy's year as president, and it gives me great pleasure to associate the Institute's current leadership team (and myself) with it, both because of the depth and breadth of TEI's activities and because our plans for the current year are build upon and flow from last year's achievements.

The 2004-2005 membership year was an astonishing one for TEI in terms of our educational programs, our advocacy programs, and our networking initiatives. Under Judy's able leadership, the Institute achieved much, whether measured in terms of the objectives set by the Board of Directors or our financial results. It was also a year of both transition and continuity, as we expanded to Asia, reorganized and expanded our staff, and expanded our advocacy activities beyond their traditional focus on tax laws, rules, and regulations to agencies and groups such the SEC, FASB, IASB, OECD, and PCAOB.
