Dwight "DJ" Jay Bremer

Dwight "DJ" Jay Bremer, 72, passed away on Saturday, Aug. 23, 2025, at the Sanford Medical Center, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, of chronic heart and kidney failure. Dwight requested no funeral services and has been cremated.

He was born March 22, 1953, to Glenn and Jacqueline Bremer, in Torrington. He grew up in Torrington and enjoyed being in the Boy Scouts, and attained Eagle Scout with Order of the Arrow distinction. He attended the University of Wyoming and received a Bachelor of Science degree in business and received his Juris Doctorate and became a member of the Wyoming Bar.

While in law school, he met Marjorie Barber, a native Kansan, who also attended there. They fell in love and married Aug. 2, 1980.

They moved to Denver, as he was hired as a landman for an energy company. The Bremers then moved to Gillette in 1982, and DJ was a stockbroker for several years. He owned several video rental stores in western Wyoming during that time too.

Ahead of his time, he spearheaded the Gillette Cable Ad company, which televised local high school sports and other local events in realtime to our community. However, he was drawn back to his profession and became a partner in Wilkerson and Bremer Law Group and practiced law for nearly 30 years. He retired in 2012.

For many years, DJ was treasurer for Kiwanis Club and also chairman of the Salvation Army. He volunteered to maintain the dressage arenas at the Equestrian Park, as he loved to drive his ATV. He pursued epicurean experiences and had a flair for gourmet cooking. DJ helped in fostering pets for the local shelter and he didn't shy away from getting up at 2 a.m. to give a kitten a bottle feeding.

DJ designed and built bespoke birdhouses from exotic woods including mahogany, grana-dillo, and ebony with designs ranging from ultramodern to classic. His birdhouses are located all around the Bremer property. His love of animals was unequaled and one of his favorite things was driving around the park with the f amily dogs looking out the windows and barking.

His strength to endure this lengthy debilitating illness came from his love of God. He felt truly blessed with an extraordinary life given to him by Our Savior. The power of prayer was his beacon of hope through all the ups and downs for the past three years. He prayed for everyone to show kindness to one another in this turbulent world.

Survivors include his wife, Marjorie of Gillette; brother, Bob (Averil) Bremer of Houston, Texas; sister, Susan Dodson of Torrington; and his beloved Catahoula Leopard dog, Bandi Lou Boudreaux, who misses his gentle ear scratches.

His f avorite charities include Council of Community Services, in Gillette; Black Dog Animal Rescue, in Cheyenne; and Friends of Gillette Animal Shelter.
