QUESTION: What has been your most valuable educational experience within the past three years? What made it valuable?

Situational Leadership II, Ken Blanchard Companies, was the most valuable educational experience I had within the last three years. Situational Leadership can be used in all areas of life, both personal and professional. The ability to be flexible and adapt to developing people and managing change is invaluable. This training reminded me to consider the needs of the individual; not every situation is one-size-fits-all. Every day I employ the strategies and tools I learned in this class. This training developed me into a stronger and more insightful leader, mentor, and mother. What can be more valuable than that?

The most valuable educational experience I had in the last three years I got from asking a question, trying to answer it myself, and then testing my own answer, first with other FMers, and eventually all the way to the Pentagon. Because the facts took me to a surprising answer, I was trying to find somebody who could tell me I was wrong. By the time I got to senior levels of FM, I had learned quite a bit about how the situation came to be and the issues with trying to fix it.
