Executives from Siemens, along with their newly acquired division, UGS PLM Software, a division of Siemens Automation and Drives, detailed how the two companies will be working together to deliver product lifecycle management for manufacturers at the first Media and Analyst Forum 2007, held in June in New York City, since the $3.5 billion acquisition was completed in early May.
Focusing on the thought behind Siemens' acquisition of UGS, Group Vice President of Siemens Automation & Drives Anton Huber says, "UGS will now fill the hole A&D had in its product portfolio."
Tony Affuso, chairman and CEO of UGS outlined Project Archimedes although no definitive time frame was announced. Project Archimedes will bring product design, development, and production together in what Affuso terms use cases: Adaptive Manufacturing, Virtual Commissioning, Harmonized
Lifecycles, Hi-Fi Machining, and Mechatronics.
