MEET THE NDAA TEAM.

AuthorBunn, Nelson O., Jr.

1 Before working at NDAA, what was the most unusual or interesting job you've ever had?

Traveling to Latin American countries working exhibitor booths for a transportation and infrastructure non-profit located in the Washington, DC area.

2 What drew you to NDAA originally? And how has NDAA changed since?

I was originally drawn to NDAA to serve in the Director of Government Affairs role as I saw a challenge before me to create an advocacy plan of action from scratch. There was very little infrastructure or communication in place and I saw a huge missed opportunity for NDAA to serve as a true voice of America's prosecutors to lawmakers and other Federal Government officials. We now have a robust advocacy effort in place and are being asked on the front end about legislation to be introduced in a proactive manner instead of just reacting to legislation already introduced.

3 What is your proudest moment at NDAA?

So far, there have been two. First, in my first year as Executive Director resolving the Office of Inspector General audit that had been open for almost 8 years burdening the organization financially, structurally and with its image to the public. Second, working together with our team at NDAA to go from barely making payroll to being financially stable.

4 What is on your wish list for the next 10 years at NDAA?

A dedicated communications staff member, contractual grant writer and more administrative support staff to fully engage in areas where we currently have deficiencies.
