Wendell Berry misses the mark again, persistently ignoring the deadly impact of animal husbandry ("The Bad Modern History of Farming," June/July issue).

Domestic farm animals are doomed, whether treated humanely or barbarically. His paean on agrarian farming reminds me of Roberta Flack's "Killing Me Softly with His Song," as the end result is the same: slaughtered.

Conservatives Gave Us Trump

Although I can appreciate Rick Berg's problems with President Trump's obvious lack of character ("Stop Trump! A Conservative's Perspective," August/September issue), I have no sympathy with any problems this may create for the conservative cause. Berg should not be surprised by Trump's crass behavior, since his article clearly elucidates the core of the problem.

Berg states that as a conservative, he is for limited government and personal responsibility. The implication is that Democrats, liberals, and/or progressives lack a sense of personal responsibility.
