Research Triangle Park-based MCNC, a nonprofit computing center, wants $160 million in state money over the next 10 years to pay for high-tech-business incubators. President David Rizzo says the investment in its North Carolina Innovation Institute could spawn 6,000 jobs with an average annual salary of $56,000 by 2024. The institute would operate incubators at RTP, due to the high concentration of research activity, and in Fayetteville, to concentrate on homeland-security projects.
