McElroy v. Lopac, 403 F.3d 855 (7th Cir. 2005). An inmate brought a civil rights action against prison officials, alleging that he was fired from his prison job in retaliation for exercising his First Amendment right to free speech. The district court dismissed the case for failure to state a claim, and the inmate appealed. The appeals court affirmed.
