On June 30 the Philippine Red Cross took ownership of the Susitna Ferry from the Mat-Su Borough, paying $1.75 million for the vessel, having already paid $250,000 for the purchase of the ship and $60,000 for operations costs. Before the sale could proceed, the ship engines had to be repaired due to water damage for approximately $3 million. The vessel successfully performed sea trials June 23.
