For many rivers, lakes and streams in Massachusetts, polluted stormwater is now the largest source of pollution, threatening drinking water supplies and violating water quality standards for fishing and swimming.

A case brought by CLF charging the Massachusetts Highway Department with federal Clean Water Act violations went to trial in February.
