Hilo Attorneys Recognized for Assisting 1,000 People in 2017

Hilo Self-Help Center volunteer attorneys were recognized for assisting more than 1,100 people in 2017, thereby surpassing its own record for a single year. Since opening, more than 4,900 people have been assisted by volunteer attorneys at this center.

Chief Justice Recktenwald thanked the HCBA, the Hawaii State Bar Association, the Legal Aid Society of Hawaii, and the Hawaii Access to Justice Commission for their support of the Judiciary's efforts to bring self-help services to Hawaii residents statewide.

Martell, Shintani Reappointed as Per Diem

Linda S. Martell and Randal I. Shintani were recently reappointed as per diem judges of the District Court of the First Circuit. Martell is designated to act as a District Family Judge. Each will serve a new four-year term.
