Looking out my office window, I marvel at the calmness of Lake Erie (while thinking about that next big RFP or marketing campaign that we'll develop). Then, my meditative mood is interrupted by an unsettled feeling, as I think about potential challenging weather factors. It's much like a leadership position in a law firm or legal marketing association--you know challenges are around the corner and that they will take you outside that comfort zone, but I find it exhilarating.

Having served on the LMA Board for the last year, I understand the dedication of volunteers who really want to make this "the community" for legal marketers and service providers. I could throw out that All for One and One for All cheer, but it really is more like Many for All and All for Many. As Nathan Darling so eloquently reported in last month's Strategies, 2010 was a year of rebuilding and creating better alliances with chapters, other affiliated organizations and most importantly you, the member. It is refreshing to hear the ideas and support from the international membership as I start this year's eventful journey. Our strategic plan is well under way, but we have goals to achieve and people to serve. Our 2011 committee and task force chairs are now in place and they're ready to move forward on executing goals and tactical implementation steps of our strategic plan.
