The Society for Human Resource Management polled more than 450 human resource professionals recently. They were asked what actions related to employee investments and retirement planning their organizations are most likely to take in the coming months if there are no reversals in the current economic trends.

Here's some of what they said:

* 83 percent said they would consider providing employees with financial educational literature and/or workshops by investment specialists; 21 percent said they might revise investment policies for 401 (k) plans and other savings programs.

* 11 percent said they might change investment-management companies; 7 percent would consider offering employees investment options other than 401 (k) plans.
