Made in Colorado: A uniquely satisfying label.

Colorado business, and typically the content of this magazine, is made up largely of service providers like law firms, accounting firms, banks, consultants, sales-people, policy makers, marketing specialists, investors, app creators and such. They reflect an increasingly information- and service-based economy. What's made our annual Made in Colorado issue special since we introduced the section in 2012 is that it not only represents evidence of a resurgence in manufacturing; it celebrates businesses that still create tangible products--real goods the producers can hold aloft at the end of the day and say, "We made this."

OK, so Lockheed Martin can only figuratively hold up its multi-billion-dollar Orion spacecraft, one of 10 Colorado goods profiled by writer Eric Peterson in this issue. And Clancy Systems International, maker of the infamous Denver Boot, might draw more jeers than cheers from anyone outside of law enforcement for its notorious on-site car-impounding device.
