Held June 2-5 this year, the Detroit Regional Chamber's Mackinac Policy Conference brings together over 1,500 of Michigan's business and community leaders and bipartisan public officials from all levels of government to discuss and work on the issues and challenges facing Michigan's business community.

This year's agenda focuses on the 2010 election year, education and its importance in rebuilding the American economy, and job creation.

Conference keynote line-up will include:

Newt Gingrich

Gingrich will address the connection between America's small businesses and rebuilding our nation's economy.


Sergio Marchionne

Sergio Marchionne's dinner keynote will include a moderated discussion focused on the state of the global automotive industry and Chrysler Group LLC's strategy for the future.


Kathleen Sebelius

United States Secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Kathleen Sebelius, the nation's highest-ranking health official, will address attendees at the 2010 Mackinac Policy Conference.

Dr. Valentino Castellani

Former mayor of Torino, Italy, Dr. Valentino Castellani will discuss how the Detroit region can learn from Turin's regional cooperation that lead to successfully developing a new economic base to turn itself around.



Dennis Yablonsky, CEO of The Allegheny Conference on Community Development, John Manzetti, CEO of Pittsburgh Life Sciences Greenhouse and Richard Lunak, CEO of Innovation Works will discuss how the region of Pittsburgh responded to its own economic decline and successfully engineered a balanced, diversified economy that enabled Pittsburgh to grow a 21st-century economy.
