IX. Attorney-Client Fee Disputes

Under rules promulgated by the Appellate Division, at the client's option, New York practitioners will be required to arbitrate client fee disputes.¹⁴⁹ The New York State Fee Dispute Program¹⁵⁰ provides that arbitrators determine the reasonableness of fees and costs for professional services. ¹⁵¹ Such arbitration is binding upon both parties unless de novo review is sought in the courts .¹⁵²
