IX. Attorney-Client Fee Disputes

Under rules promulgated by the Appellate Division, at the client's option, New York practitioners will be required to arbitrate client fee disputes.149 The New York State Fee Dispute Program150 provides that arbitrators determine the reasonableness of fees and costs for professional services. 151 Such arbitration is binding upon both parties unless de novo review is sought in the courts .152
