When I got to the end of the October/November 2018 issue of The Progressive with Rachel Eliza Griffiths's fantastic poem, 'Chosen Family," and then Jim Hightower's essay, "Monopoly or Democracy' I knew it was one of the best issues of the magazine that I had ever read. I've been reading the magazine for years so the great writing and topical issues within the articles have always been the case. But this issue spoke to the moment more than others.
