February is the season where many of us focus more time and attention on important relationships in our lives. One relationship law firm owners often overlook is their relationship with their firms. This is not to say that lawyers do not spend exorbitant amounts of time working in their businesses. They do— that is part of the problem. Lawyers often do not reflect on whether they enjoy the business they create. If you have ever "hated your practice" or felt frustrated by the amount of time you dedicate with or without results, this article is for you. I encourage you to take some time this season to think about your relationship with your firm and how you can improve it. To help jumpstart this process, I went to the Ais and asked it to tell me how a lawyer and her law firm could improve their relationship from the point of view of the law firm.
