St. Louis Chapter hosts IRS Night, welcomes LMSB Commissioner Frank Ng.

The St. Louis Chapter held its annual "IRS Night" on February 28th. The program featured Frank Ng, the Commissioner of the IRS's Large and Mid-Size Business Division, and Tom Merkle, IRS Team Manager, Field Specialists, Employment Tax. TEI Executive Director Timothy McCormally also participated.

Addressing the future direction the LMSB, Mr. Ng focused on the LMSB's industry issue focus examination, leveraging of international expertise, the compliance assurance process (CAP) program, transparency and disclosure, and the expanded use of technology.

Mr. Merkle provided an insightful update on the increased IRS scrutiny of employment issues. He devoted special attention to the role of the employment tax team in the LMSB audit, executive compensation compliance issues, and the top eight targeted compensation elements.

Mr. McCormally an engaging update on national TEI activities, as well as offering some thoughts and perspective regarding IRS/ Taxpayer cooperation and collaboration.
