The manufacturing industry is still largely misunderstood, and yet it has consistently played a vital role in our economy, both nationally and regionally, for nearly a century. Even though the shift to advanced manufacturing is challenging traditional assumptions about the industry--advanced manufacturing means less actual jobs but equal output and new opportunity for higher paying job creation and workforce training--the industry remains a pillar of our economy and a vital part of our livelihood.
