What I can't understand ("Clogged Artery," Allen Best, March) is the thinking that the best solution is to build bigger over the same trail. At some point, (Interstate 70) will be a completely clogged conduit that has no room to grow. Why can't the "Denver" mentality see past Castle Rock to find other solutions? If an interstate highway were to be built from Pueblo west to Grand Junction, probably half of the commercial traffic would opt to use it instead of 1-70. An added benefit would be an alternate route when weather closes or makes a hazard of 1-70. Of course, it will cost more than current plans for expansion. And it will take a while to...
