Local governments face a talent crisis just as real as the fiscal crisis. While the government workforce is older and more educated than that of the private sector, many governments do not have a plan for how they will recruit, develop, and compete with the private sector for the best and the brightest.

The Center for State and Local Government Excellence, National League of Cities, International City/County Management Association, Government Finance Officers Association, and International Public Management Association for Human Resources is seeking nominations of innovative and successful workforce programs.
