Financial literacy campaign continues across the nation.

April Financial Literacy Month was a busy one for both the AICPA and the state CPA societies (The CPA Letter, Apr.). The AICPA was a co-sponsor of the Financial Literacy Day on Capitol Hill as well as a sponsor for the California Society of CPAs' California Summit on Financial Literacy in Sacramento. Both events were an opportunity to increase awareness about the CPA profession's 360 Degrees of Financial Literacy effort to a variety of organizations, educators, legislators, and the media. Here are some state activities. The Florida Institute held its annual Florida's Financial Fitness Friday on Apr. 18 during which time residents placed calls to an 800 number to ask CPA volunteers financial questions. The Texas Society created a financial tip calendar for the month of Apr. with daily tips that range from teaching kids about money to budgeting. The Virginia Society held a series of free financial literacy workshops for the public and developed a Financial Literacy Month Media Kit to highlight stories and seminars.
