To become a process-driven enterprise, business managers initially must stack up their processes against 10 key attributes to determine if or how change is required. The easiest way to do this is to consider if each business process is: 1) routine, standardized or transactional; 2) overly costly or needs a different cost structure; 3) under-efficient; 4) ineffective; 5) technology-dependent; 6) affected by changing policies and legislation; 7) lacking quality performance; 8) requiring more expertise than is available in-house; 9) difficult to manage/out of control; or 10) requiring innovation.
