During her climb up the leadership ladder, State Bar Secretary Javoyne Hicks inspired her daughter, Victoria, to follow in her footsteps.

Javoyne Hicks, the current secretary of the State Bar of Georgia, has long valued serving in Bar leadership. Her commitment to the legal profession and her dedication to public service have been evident throughout her career.

In 2006, Hicks was first elected to the Board of Governors from the DeKalb Judicial Circuit, which was previously known as the Stone Mountain Judicial Circuit. Hicks extended her influence in 2018 with her election to the Bar's Executive Committee, which has enabled her to fulfill a critical role in shaping policies and programs that benefit the legal profession, the justice system and the public. Now, as a Bar officer, her leadership responsibilities are further magnified.

While she has climbed the leadership ladder over the past two decades, Hicks has also—knowingly or unknowingly-inspired her daughter, Victoria Hicks,

to follow in her footsteps not only into the legal profession, but also in service to the Bar. A senior assistant district attorney for Douglas County, Victoria is now serving on the Executive Committee of the Bar's Young Lawyers Division (YLD).
