Wesley Clark's article, 'America's Virtual Empire," (November) is a stunning piece of work, laying out the historical roots of decades of multilateralist success. While citing this administration's failures abroad, he describes the potentially enormous damage that Bush's arrogant, unilateralist policies could do to U.S. interests in the long run. He makes a powerful case that our current foreign policy will only hasten a decline in our influence in the world, leading to an inevitable loss of U.S. economic stability and global authority. We need this man to hold an important place in a post-Bush administration.
