ARLINGTON, Virginia--Defense Department-supported nonprofit LIFT will open a new Advanced Metallic Production and Processing Center in 2025 in Detroit, Michigan, to address advanced materials challenges across the defense industrial base.
Joe Steele, executive vice president of public affairs and ecosystem at LIFT, said the new production and processing center will fill a "critical gap" in the manufacturing base by accelerating the development and adoption of new advanced materials, as they are difficult, "if not impossible," to find in the United States.
