Youth National Communication System (NCS) Program.
Deadline: May 13, 2020.
Funds: $1.6 million total for one award with a project
period of three years.
Eligibility: Colleges and universities; for-prot
organizations, including small businesses; nonprot
organizations; and state, local, special district and Native
American tribal governments; among others.
Areas: ACF said the NCS program includes a national
communication system that links, at no cost, runaway
and homeless youth and their families, and, when
necessary, refers runaway and homeless youth to
shelters, counseling, medical assistance and other vital
services. The program provides information, referral
services, crisis intervention and prevention resources
to vulnerable youth and youth at risk of running away
and/or becoming homeless and their families or legal
guardians. Additionally, the NCS Program conducts
outreach to increase the visibility of services and
resources available to youth at risk of running away and/
or becoming homeless or who have run away and/or
become homeless, parents, youth-serving organizations
and youth advocates nationwide. The NCS Program
develops and disseminates prevention resources to
minimize runaway incidents and provides technical
support to youth-serving organizations, youth advocates,
service providers and other key stakeholders throughout
the United States and U.S. territories.

Lifespan Respite Care Program: Grants to New
States (ACL)
Scope: The Administration for Community Living seeks
applications for the Lifespan Respite Care Program:
Grants to New States announcement for planning,
establishing and expanding/enhancing Lifespan Respite
Care systems in the states, including new and planned
emergency respite services, training and recruiting
respite workers and volunteers and assisting caregivers
with gaining access to needed services.
Deadline: May 12, 2020.
Funds: $400,000 total for two grants ranging from
$150,000 to $200,000.
Eligibility: State governments.
Areas: ACL said grantees must provide the following
required services: development and enhancement of
lifespan respite care at the state and local levels, the
provision of respite care services for family caregivers
caring for children or adults, training and recruiting
of respite care workers and volunteers, the provision
of information to caregivers about available respite
and support services, and assistance to caregivers in
gaining access to such services. Additionally, grantees
may use funds to develop a range of optional services,
including training programs for family caregivers to assist
family caregivers in making informed decisions about
respite care services, and other services essential to the
provision of respite care.
