I enjoyed Timothy Noah's review of Eric Alterman's What Liberal Media ("Bias Schmias," March). As an avid long-time listener to NPR, I have seen it become much more moderate than it used to be.

On "Talk of the Nation," the host will have someone from the American Enterprise Institute or Heritage Foundation for one side, but the other side (for balance) may be a liberal or even moderate. Congress and conservatives have bashed NPR to the point where they truly bend over backward to be "balanced." This is a classic example of "working the ref."
