Greeley streets misidentified

This is to bring to your attention the fact that on pages 38-39 (of the February issue, "Who Owns Colorado"), in the aerial photo of the Greeley area, the north and south street designations for 47th Avenue, 35th Avenue and 23rd Avenue are incorrectly identified. Sixty-fifth Avenue is correctly identified at the intersection with U.S. Highway 34. It, however, curves to become 59th Avenue to the north, not 47th Avenue as it appears on your photo. Family list lacking

I find it somewhat amusing in reviewing your top Family Owned local businesses (February), that you chose to leave out some very obvious ones, such as Europtics, Specialty Sports (Cart Cos.), Western Stone & Metal (Shane Co.), Tattered Cover, to name a few in a matter of minutes without any formal research on my end. How little time researching companies did your staff put in before running that story? Daniel Feldman, Englewood

La Veta-Cuchara story elicits discomfort

After reading the December 2002 issue of Coloradobiz and the articles "High and Dry" and "Southern Discomfort," I felt compelled to respond to inaccuracies and "slanted journalism." Eric Peterson's "High and Dry" explores the condition of Colorado tourism quite effectively and does a better job of explaining La Veta's and Cuchara's plight than does David Lewis' "story."

It is patently obvious that Mr. Lewis had his story ("Southern Discomfort") written before he came to town. He mined quotes from locals that could be woven into his "yarn" and requested...
