Dubious Honor

I was very disturbed by your article about Arab women being killed ("Murder for Honor," 12/13/99). It talked about the killing of unchaste women in order for their family's honor to be returned. One part that really upset me was the fact that all someone has to do is accuse a woman of infidelity and she could be killed. I'm sorry, but how much honor can you have after you just killed your sister?

I think the story you did on honor killings was poorly written and basically untrue. What 1 do not understand is why you never focus on the good of Middle Eastern countries. All you ever show is the bad, such as these honor killings and terrorism. It's too bad, because Americans here are so ignorant, and they won't ever go beyond looking at UPFRONT or The Times. I hope you are all happy for making my class believe all Arabs are barbarians, which is a complete lie.

Don't Bow to Castro

I was extremely disgusted with the decision by the Immigration and Naturalization Service to return Ellen Gonzalez to the Communist bastion of Cuba simply because the INS commissioner wants to help the Clinton administration improve relations with that country. It was wrong for Fidel Castro to use a little boy as anti-American puppet, but it was equally wrong for the U.S. government to bow down to a psychotic madman.

Beatles Blunder?

I am outraged! It seems that your ignorant writers don't know a thing about the Beatles. On page 34 of your January 17, 2000, issue, you label a photograph of the suit worn by John Lennon on the Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band album cover "Yellow Submarine Suit." The Sgt. Pepper suit has nothing to do with "Yellow Submarine." The song wasn't even on the Sgt. Pepper's album, and...
