Heal gender bias

I am a regular reader of your magazine and was stunned that your listing of North Carolina's best physicians (cover, July) did not list any pediatricians or obstetrician-gynecologists.

To ignore these specialties while including urologists (who primarily serve men) shows an incredible gender bias. I am extremely disappointed in your magazine. Kay-Frances Brody Director of Development Medical Foundation of North Carolina Chapel Hill

LEAF some for us

I have no preconceived notions about the Golden LEAF program (Economic Outlook, July), but I grew up and have lived east of Raleigh my entire life except for four fine years in Chapel Hill. And what strikes me is that $4.5 million of the $5.5 million in the 10 largest grants has been spent in Raleigh. I can't tell you the percentage of tobacco grown in each of North Carolina's counties, but my guess is that more than 80% of it wasn't grown in Wake County.
