As we start 2024, the Real Property Journal has many achievements to look back on and an exciting year ahead. Before we discuss the future, I would first like to thank our authors who made this 2023 omnibus issue possible.

First, many thanks go to our long-term contributor Star Lightner who again provides us her Top Ten Real Property Cases of 2022. Star's excellent reprise of these cases (and the runners up) is always a great way to start the new year.

Mary Howell brings us her vast experience in community association law in her excellent article "The Basics of Community Association Repair Obligations." As a board member of an HOA, Mary's article opened my eyes to many issues that were literally close to home.

John Hanna and David Van Atta bring us their decades of expertise in "Public Policies and Legislation Fostering Housing in California." Their article is a superlative reference guide to our Legislature's attempts to address California's housing crisis over the last several years.

I would like to thank my predecessor as Editor in Chief, Norman Chernin for his wisdom, humor, and near-infinite patience with his successor. I would also like to thank our editorial board...
