'Let's make a deal': More candidates negotiate for higher pay.

More than half of professionals (55%) tried to negotiate a higher salary with their last employment offer, a 16-point jump from last year, according to a survey by staffing firm Robert Half. Men (68%) were more likely than women (45%) to negotiate their pay, as were younger professionals age 18-34 (65%) compared with those age 55 and older (38%).
