The National Defense Industrial Association gave its 2014 Logistician Emeritus Award to retired Army Maj. Gen. Kevin Leonard on April 14 at the National Logistics Forum held at the Ronald Reagan Building in Washington, D.C.

ND1A annually recognizes military leaders who have made significant contributions to the logistical operations of the U.S. armed forces, to underscore the importance of this critical function to military success and to recognize talented and dedicated leadership success on behalf of the American people.

Leonard is currently vice president for contingency operations at Fluor Corp., an Irving, Texas-based engineering and construction firm.

The citation highlighted Leonard's management skills, which resulted in billions of dollars in savings through his implementation of new accounting and inventory controls and innovative high technology tracking systems. He was also recognized for his outstanding skill at managing contracts, which reduced costs and increased compliance and quality of performance.
