The Lecture Series of the Americas recently commemorated its fifth anniversary. The series was created on September 29, 2004 by OAS member states to enrich the hemispheric debate on key issues of the inter-American agenda.

Throughout the past five years, the series reached a wide audience by bringing distinguished leaders, scholars, and policy experts to the House of the Americas to discuss issues such as: democracy and governance; social development and the fight against poverty; the protection and promotion of human rights; and the stregthenning of security.

Sponsored by Peru's San Martín de Porres University and by other donors, the Lecture Series of the Americas has provided a space for the exchanging views on the most significant problems in the Americas and for maintaining an ongoing regional dialogue with all sectors of society.
