Learning
Disability is
Not
a
Defense
to
Delinquent
Acts
As
regards
interfacing
with
the juvenile justice system, it must
be
pointed
out
that the existence
of
a
learning disability in any given child
is
not
an
explanatory excuse
or
mitigating rationalization which
would
relieve the child
of
the social
consequences
of
his
behavior
or
remove the
focus
of
control
from
self
to
society. The delineation
of
it
learning disability is rather
a
description
of
the
process in which
a
given child interacts with his academic
as
vvell
as
social
environment, focusing on the specific components of
his
information
processing
skills.
