Leadership takes many forms, and Financial Executives International (FEI) is dedicated to cultivating and celebrating leadership in the financial suite, the financial reporting industry and with our regulatory stakeholders.

This month, we are proud to highlight our commitment to financial leadership by celebrating our eighth annual FEI Hall of Fame. This year's inductees exemplify what the industry has come to expect from FEI members and financial leaders: integrity, financial acumen, and organizational and leadership skills. Each of the honorees--Earnest J. Edwards, retired senior vice president and controller, Alcoa Inc.; William U. Parfet, chairman and chief executive officer, MPI Research; and Frederic V. Salerno, retired vice chairman and chief financial officer for Verizon Communications Inc.--have long and distinguished careers that honor their respective companies and the profession.

We believe this celebration creates a halo effect for our industry and sets a high standard for our younger professionals to emulate. The Hall of Fame also encourages thought leadership within the profession, with proceeds from the celebratory Gala benefiting the Financial Executives Research Foundation, FEI's research affiliate.

FEI's Role in Global Financial Leadership

FEI is also leading overseas. In October, we held a very successful meeting with FEI's Japan Chapter. Senior financial executives discussed the implementation of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), and the Financial Accounting Standards.
