Lawrence W. Smith was appointed by the Financial Accounting Foundation Board of Trustees to a five-year term as a member of the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) beginning on July 1. He is replacing Edward W. Trott, who will retire from FASB on June 30.

Smith is currently director of Technical Application and Implementation Activities and chairman of the Emerging Isssues Task Force (EITF).
