Established by President Dwight D. Eisenhower in 1958, Law Day is observed on May 1 each year to celebrate the rule of law and cultivate a deeper understanding of the legal profession.

The month of May was filled with activity in Georgia's legal community, as the State Bar of Georgia's Professionalism Committee, the Local and Voluntary Bars Committee and the State Bar of Georgia Communications Department collaborated to organize Georgia's Law Day 2024.

In 1958, President Dwight D. Eisenhower established Law Day to celebrate the rule of law in our society and to cultivate a deeper understanding of the legal profession. This year's American Bar Association Law Day theme was "Voices of Democracy." It is imperative that we, as legal professionals, uplift the voices of our democracy and encourage confidence in our judicial system. The State Bar of Georgia focused its efforts on civic education and the importance of the judicial branch and the role of the judicial elections.

The Law Day Committee reached out to the 10 Georgia judicial districts and encouraged judges and lawyers to speak to students at their local schools and recreation centers, or adults in their civic organizations, places of worship or other similar groups.
