This is a good choice for librarians serving Mexican American teenagers because it is a YA mystery story featuring young people perhaps like themselves. The setting is a small town in southern California with a small inn called Las Mariposas, owned by Caro's Tia Matilde. Caro goes to help her aunt at the end of the summer. Once Caro arrives, she soon sees a bitter feud. Her aunt once was married to the town sheriff and the sheriff's son was very close to Tia Matilde, his stepmother. This teenager was killed in a car accident just before Caro's arrival, and the sheriff blames Tia Matilde for his son's death.
