I am writing to thank you for publishing "You're in the Hole," by Anne-Marie Cusac (December issue). This is an excellent article on the new Federal Bureau of Prisons regulations, which allow the monitoring of conversations between lawyers and their clients.

It is tempting to dismiss the actions taken against prisoners as not applying to activists outside prison, just as it is tempting to dismiss the internment of noncitizens without charges or evidence as not applying to citizens, or the targeting of those who appear Muslim or Arab as not applying to others.
