Knowles Releases 'Jobs and Families' FY02 Budget.

Calling it a cost-effective way to meet the needs of Alaska's growing population and economy, Coy. Tony Knowles recently unveiled his proposed budget for the fiscal year 2002. The proposed budget shortly preceded the announcement that Alaska's resident population increased 14 percent over the past decade to 626,932. That number increased from 550,043 Alaskans counted in the 1990 census.

"There are three words that best describe the budget I'm submitting to the Legislature today: 'jobs and families,'" Knowles said. "This budget addresses three basic goals necessary for the continued good health of Alaska families and of Alaska's economy."
