Seeking to ensure the public's confidence in the Alaska Railroad after a recent series of derailments and fuel spills, Gov. Tony Knowles has called for a cabinet level team to review overall operational safety systems on the state-owned railroad.

"The Alaska Railroad is a vital part of our state's economy and I want to ensure the public has the full trust in the railroad's handling of fuel, freight and passengers," Knowles said.
