New Kennametal insert proves worthy of aerospace machining.

KY4300 ceramic, the newest member of the Kyon cutting ceramics family from Kennametal Inc., is especially well-suited for aerospace parts machining, including the cutting of Inconel, Stellite, Waspalloy, Hastelloy, and other high-temperature alloys. When machining Inconel 718, for example, a production floor can increase speeds four to five times compared to using carbide inserts. It can be equally productive in the automotive industry, machining alloyed gray cast-iron brake disks, and in the rollproducts segment removing casting crust or heavily worn rolling surfaces.
