On March 30, CLF and the New Hampshire Department of Transportation (DOT) entered into a settlement agreement on the proposed $66 million expansion of the so-called Keene bypass. The agreement will result in significantly reduced impacts to wetlands while allowing DOT to proceed with improvements that will relieve traffic concerns in the Keene area. As originally proposed, the project would have filled nearly 30 acres of wetlands, most of which serve valuable wildlife habitat, water quality and flood control functions.
