Kathryn Shaw Nominated to CEA.

NBER Research Associate Kathryn L. Shaw, a Professor of Economics at Carnegie Mellon University's Graduate School of Industrial Administration, was nominated by President Clinton to be a Member of the Council of Economic Advisers on November 17, 1999. She is serving as Senior Economic Advisor to the Council while awaiting Senate confirmation. Shaw, an expert in labor economics and human resource management, will cover such topics as welfare reform, Medicare, pay equity, and other issues in labor economics and industrial organization at the Council. Upon Senate approval of her nomination, Shaw will succeed another NBER Research Associate Rebecca Blank, who has returned to academe and is currently dean of the University of Michigan's School of Public Policy.
