I was appalled to read Ruth Conniff's characterization of Representative Marcy Kaptur of Ohio as an economic populist (Interview, July issue). Kaptur is among nineteen Democrats who sent a letter to Speaker Nancy Pelosi saying they would refuse to support health care reform "unless it explicitly excludes abortion funding from the scope of any government-defined or subsidized health insurance plan."
