Make It Sing: Rich Hayse Recognized for Dedication and Passion to the Kansas Bar Foundation

On June 20, 2024, Richard F. "Rich" Hayse became the 22nd attorney to be awarded the Robert K. Weary Award by the Kansas Bar Foundation. The award recognizes lawyers or law firms for their exemplary service and commitment to the mission and goals of the Foundation. This award was given for the first time in 2000 to Robert K. Weary, who was a member of the KBF's Board of Trustees from 1994 to 2000 and served on the KBF Investment Committee. In 1997, Weary donated the lead gift toward the Kansas Law Center building campaign to create a permanent home for the KBA and KBF. He passed away in early 2001.

In 2017, the building was renamed as the Robert L. Gernon Law Center in honor of the late Justice Robert L. Gernon. Rich was a liaison between the Gernon family and the Foundation in the rededication of the building in Justice Gernon's name.

During part of his two terms as a trustee of the Foundation, Rich served as chair of the Investment Committee and was instrumental in creating and obtaining approval by the board for a permanent endowment titled the Ad Astra Fund as an enduring repository of undesignated gifts to the Foundation. ?
